Medicare Payment Advisory Commission Calls for Payment Reform

Med PAC calls for:

  • repeal of the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula for Medicare physician payment
  • move to payments that support quality and value
  • overhaul of post-acute care to prevent unnecessary re-admissions , curb over payments and design better management for the most complex patients
  • End exorbitant rates for basic medical services in hospitals which can be easily performed in physician offices.
